Here’s a great, short video on development, sprawl, and transportation that illustrates some of the concepts we here at Sightline have been talking about for a while. Created by John Paget, it’s the winner of the Congress for New Urbanism CNU 17 video contest. And it’s pretty cool to boot:

    Too negative for me. I agree with CNU on almost every point, but I think with a little zoning reform and creative trails even cul-de-sac developments could be transformed into walkable communities. For example, see Transforming Suburbia into Superbia! (which doesn’t even go into transit or zoning). As for new developments… well, I think they should be more Vauban than Seaside, but I’ll settle for anything walkable.
