In the grimness of the economic news, here’s one gleaning that brought joy to my heart:
Hummer is expected to close by the end of this month if a buyer does not emerge.
I know it’s bad to gloat, but the Hummer has always struck me as a perfect encapsulation of just about everything that’s been wrong with North American transportation.

As stupid and wasteful as Hummer was (hopefully soon) remember that there are a lot of people who will lose their jobs because of this. Hopefully a greener industry can move into the area where these jobs were or at least the displaced workers can get assistance moving to the areas where those jobs are/will be.
