Film Your Commute

Posted by Alan Durning
Biking to work, on video.

Erik Pennington’s commute is 13 miles. He filmed it from his bike, sped up the film, and put it to music.

Film your own commute and let us share it!

Or, search YouTube and other video sites for the best bike-commute videos from around the world. Post them in comments or email me your favorites . Here’s one for starters that shows insane, between-lanes-of-cars cycling in Manhattan.

What strikes me most about Erik Pennington’s commute is that even when it's sped up on film, it still takes more than three minutes to watch. Man, that guy has stamina! And parts of the commute are so lovely, I felt sorry for all the cars whizzing by and missing out on the opportunity to truly enjoy the ride!

PS: I s'pose it works both ways: All the cars whizzing by make it harder for the bicyclists to enjoy the ride, too...

Here's a fun video from Japan. Apparently, when a person gets tired of walking their dog, they just give it a bicycle with training wheels and voila! (Click on the dog picture to roll the video, on the linked page. Arigatou gozaimasu!)
