In the News: Rewriting History

When someone says "Klamath" I think these words: Water. Fish. Farms. Forest. Fights. It's a story I saw so often for so many years that I long ago lost interest. So I was delighted to find this weekend's story in the Oregonian that showed me a different side of Klamath County, Oregon.

Seattle couple makes a “zero-carbon” move

Strapping a queen-size mattress to a bike trailer with bungee cords and straps Saturday morning, Colin Stevens says not to worry.

It looks like a giant stingray perched on a deck of cards, its wingspan hovering above thin air. But he's done this before -- moving his own bed by bicycle -- so he knows it works.

Olympia district’s farm-to-school program a role model

OLYMPIA -- Zorya Madrone has polished off her locally grown carrots. She's working on chickpeas, while brandishing a gnawed organic Asian pear.

Across the Olympia School District, each cafeteria offers a hot lunch and salad bar loaded with protein sources, organic produce and greens picked a few miles down the road.
